Have you ever read the book Turning Pro by Steven Pressfield?
If I had to describe the book in one sentence I’d say it’s the ultimate manifesto for stepping up your game.
In other words – If you want to accomplish something that’s meaningful for you, knowing what you want is important but success is far more likely when you pay close attention to your actions and mastering your mindset.
Sounds easy in theory, but when you think about your own goals how would you rate yourself?
Whether your goal is to make your first $1K, start a blog or even just to find the confidence to launch something, more often than not we focus on the skills and habits we should start doing to make it happen.
We start making plans, dreaming up new projects to work on or my personal favourite make another to-do list of things you should do.
The problem with this is that we often layer on more stuff to do vs evaluate the habits, behaviours and practices that may be the true culprit of what’s weighing us down.
After finishing the launch of Side Hustle Week the most frequently asked question I’ve received is “How did you do it?” If I had to sum up my approach on how I made it happen this question from Marie Forleo was my blueprint:
“How would you behave if you were the best in the world at what you do?”
Pause and take that in for a minute.
It’s one thing to create an color coded to-do list, read a book and SAY that you’re going to do something, but when you’re trying to make things happen are your actions truly lining up to your intentions?
If you were to ask yourself what would you do if you were best in the world, what would your responses be? Maybe you would:
- Give up the story that you tell about yourself of why you won’t succeed
- Stop trying to be perfect
- Tell yourself how awesome you are everyday
- Manage your energy instead of your time
- Stop breaking promises to yourself
- Stop downplaying your accomplishments
- Celebrate how far you’ve come instead of how left you have to go
So what would YOU do to step up your game?
To help you answer this question, I’ve created a special worksheet to help you through this reflection exercise. Download our #GoingPro Worksheet to list the habits and behaviours that will get you closer to your goals.
Need a little extra help to push through resistance or figure out how to end the year on a strong note?
Remember, no matter what endeavour that you’re pursuing, especially one when you’re trying to ‘go pro” you’re bound to encounter some resistance, self-doubt along the way and I want to help with that.
For the next few weeks I’ve opened up Power Hour sessions to strategize about your business at a special price. #goingpro can feel a bit overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be. Click the link below for more details and I look forward to chatting with you soon.
